As humans on Earth, we can create a vehicle to travel on the Moon that’s safer, more comfortable, and more efficient than ever before. We still can’t develop an effective, efficient means of transportation on our own planet? Not that I have any solutions other than one of these things:

Sunrise in Afghanistan

My older brother is in the United States Air Force, and has been for many years. In September he was dispatched to Afghanistan where he is not allowed to leave the base for obvious safety reasons. He recently sent these pictures of the sunrise over what would be the Hindu Kush (?) Mountains.

Kind of reminds me of the sunrise’s we would see with our Grandpa in the Mojave Desert while on early morning walks.

Vandalizing Terrorists

I saw these last Sunday while passing through West Seattle. Both of them stuck on the glass of Keybank on California Ave SW and SW Alaskan St. I haven’t seen any like this before and they conjure up thoughts of sarcastic patriotism. As if we couldn’t have guessed they were mocking America’s capitalist and Christian fundamentalist media, the person who created these included an American flag icon. Also, in my thoughts are how it can be said that there exist other forms of violence and oppression besides what was initially stated by the media regarding incidents at Abu Ghraib in Iraq. What am I saying… War IS violent and opressive. And in case you weren’t aware, so is forcing capitalist markets and religious beliefs on people of other cultures.

I like art… I like street art… and I like it even more when there’s a larger message. Or even when there’s not a larger message, and all it does is make me think. All I can do is interpret what this makes me think of and it may not be what the artist’s intent is… C’est la vie. People forget this stuff, these incidents, and perhaps don’t look into them or themselves to find out a little more about what’s going on and what it implies on us as “citizens” of this country, as citizens of Earth.

Do most people walk by this stuff like it’s just another form of vandalism and not even think about it?
